HOTEL HYGIENE
The Dirtiest Spots in Hotel Rooms, What to Watch Out For!

🏨Hotel rooms may look clean, but high-touch and overlooked areas often harbor germs. Experts warn that decorative pillows and bed runners are rarely washed—remove them immediately. Commonly touched items like phones, remotes, light switches, and carpets can collect bacteria and are not always fully sanitized, even in luxury hotels.
Barware, bathtubs (especially jet tubs), and ceiling fixtures are often missed during routine cleanings. If you're unsure, wipe down key surfaces, avoid using tubs, and skip items stored in drawers or cabinets.
Tip: Do a quick personal clean to ensure peace of mind during your stay.

How to Plan a Solo Female Trip to Tokyo?

Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi
Planning a solo trip to Tokyo is easier than ever thanks to a new nonstop flight from Seattle to Narita by Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines. Launched in May 2025, this route blends Alaska’s reliability with Hawaiian’s hospitality, offering perks like Starlink WiFi, Mai Tais before takeoff, and premium business class amenities including lie-flat beds, Lōli‘i toiletries, and desserts by pastry chef Michelle Karr-Ueoka.
🛏️ Where to Stay
For a secure and luxurious stay, book the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi. Located in the upper floors of the Otemachi Tower, it offers stunning views of Mount Fuji and the Imperial Palace, spacious rooms, a top-tier spa, and Michelin-starred dining at Est. The Virtù bar, known for its French-Japanese cocktails, is a must-visit.
🛍️ What to Do
Tokyo is a fashion hub, and a visit to Sacai in Aoyama offers a taste of quiet luxury with cutting-edge Japanese design. For culture, attend a Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryogoku Kokugikan—held in January, May, and September—and enjoy Chanko-nabe, the traditional sumo hot pot. Art lovers shouldn’t miss teamLab Borderless in Azabudai Hills, a digital museum where immersive installations respond to your every move.
🍣 Where to Eat
Skip typical tourist spots and head to a standing sushi bar like Magurobito Okachimachi or Tachiguizushi Akira for a fast, affordable, and authentic meal. For grilled bites, yakitori at Toritama Kagurazaka offers over 20 cuts of chicken. Or wander through Ebisu Yokocho, an alley of food stalls serving everything from basashi (raw horse meat) to kushikatsu (fried skewers).

WONDERING!
Is the TSA Liquids Rule Ending Soon?

Travelers hope the TSA will soon drop the 3-1-1 liquids rule, limiting carry-on liquids to 3.4 ounces. While the TSA recently ended the shoe-removal policy, liquids restrictions remain.
Former TSA chief David Pekoske aimed to end the liquids rule “earlier rather than later” but said full rollout of CT scanners needed for safer screening won’t happen until the 2040s. He mentioned partial changes may come sooner.
Current Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed all TSA rules—liquids, shoes, belts, electronics—are under review. Any changes will depend on having the right technology to ensure safety.
Since the liquids rule affects all passengers, relaxing it would be a major shift. For now, travelers must still follow the 3-1-1 policy, but modernization efforts hint at future changes.
