Boarding a Flight Like a Civilized Traveler: 9 Essential Rules

Air travel doesn’t have to be stressful if passengers follow simple etiquette. Here are a few tips to ensure a smoother experience:
Follow the Golden Rule: Be kind and respectful to fellow travelers.
Arrive on Time: Get to the gate early to avoid last-minute stress and delays.
Treat the Gate Like a Hotel Lobby: Stay polite and avoid stretching out or causing a scene at the gate.
Keep Phone Calls Short: Limit conversations to avoid disturbing others.
Be Prepared: Have your boarding pass and belongings ready before lining up to board.
Wait for Your Boarding Group: Don’t crowd the gate; wait for your group to be called.
Remove Headphones: Take off your headphones when speaking to staff or listening for announcements.
Move Quickly Once Onboard: Stow your luggage promptly to avoid blocking the aisle.
Use the Nearest Overhead Bin: Place your bag in the bin closest to your seat and cooperate if space is tight.

The Best Time To Book A Summer Flight
To secure the best airfare for summer trips, follow the "rule of 90": book international flights at least 90 days in advance and domestic flights within 90 days of departure. If you find a great deal earlier, book it immediately.
Avoid peak times for better prices. The first week of July is both the most popular and expensive, while mid-August offers significant savings—up to 29% less than early July. The week of August 18 is typically the cheapest for U.S. travelers.
During busy periods, airlines may add extra flights, so watch for flash sales or destination-specific deals. If you're unsure where to go, consider booking based on deals and plan your vacation around affordable airfare.
